Based on origami, the Japanese art of folding paper, this fabric is folded repeatedly at sharp angles, paper-transfer-dyed on the edges, then permanent pressed in a special pleating process that is presently patent pending. The resulting pattern is abstract, yet suggests innumerable shapes--like a medaeval game of tantegrams.
