Named after Beatrice Potter’s Mrs. Tiggy-winkle, a hedgehog washer-woman, NUNO’s whimsical “Tiggy” scarf in cobalt blue achieves its unique bristly texture by applying an ancient technique to a very contemporary textile. Cotton is coated with glutinous yam paste, which is typically used as a waterproofing agent for Japanese paper window screens, to create a flat, tape-like thread. After this is woven into the fabric weft, loose floats are cut and finished by hand.
